St. Frances de Chantal Parish has a long and rich history of
volunteer services since its foundation in 1929. We are calling upon
you to help us continue this rich tradition. We strive to enliven
the Gospel of Jesus Christ through workshop, education, and
volunteer services.
Please take a few moments to consider in which of the following
ministries you might be able to serve. Your generosity, compassion
and time are essential for the ongoing growth of our parish
community.
Thank you for all you are and do to make our parish the vibrant
community that it is.

The Bereavement Ministry has to components. One is to offer
support to those who have recently sustained a loss through death
and or/separation. The other is through a Bereavement Support
Group. The purpose of this group is to enable people to come
together to promote healing through understanding and to help them
work through their grief and readjustment by mutual support and
encouragement.

The Holy Name Society was founded in 1922 as a benevolent
society which actively supports the parish by the members’
contribution of time, talents, and material resources. On the second
Sunday of each month the Society members attend at the 8AM Eucharist
which is followed by a Society breakfast meeting.

At all worship services lectors assume the important role of
helping people experience the life-giving Word of God made alive in
the living sound of the human voice. Lectors proclaim the scriptures
in such a way that all will effectively hear the word of God which
shapes our lives.

The Choir of the parish invites new members who
love to sing. Reading music is not a necessity, but it is helpful.
The ability to carry a tune and to sing harmony is essential.
Sopranos, altos, tenors and basses are sought. The choir rehearses
are on Thursday evening and provides music ministry for the 11:30
liturgy on Sunday as well as festival liturgies throughout the
year. Anyone interested should leave a message for Bogna J.
McGarrigle
at 718-792-5500 ext 16 or after Mass.

Our homebound parishioners are a very special and
important part of our parish. The Priest are very willing to visit
and administer the Sacraments of Penance and Anointing of the Sick.
We have many wonderful volunteers who minister to them in several
ways: some are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion; others
make reassurance phone calls of visits.

Assist the celebrants of the Mass with setting up the Vestments,
Sacred Vessels, and Offertory table at the Weekend Masses (Saturday
and Sunday) and special liturgical events.

Altar Servers enhance parish worship services by assisting the
celebrant in a dignified and prayerful manner. Young men and women
often find this ministry an excellent initiation into other
ministries such as lector or Eucharistic ministries.
Pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults of either sex are invited to

Offer welcome to those participating in the parish community’s
workshop service. With a kind word of welcome, a warm smile and an
outstretched hand, the Ministers of Hospitality make visitor and
parishioners alike feel at home in the parish, and encourage full
participation in the workshop services. An important role of the
Ministers of Hospitality involves taking up the collection,
facilitating the communion procession, distributing the weekly
bulletin and providing needed assistance for anyone disabled.

Meet every Monday evening at the parish school October though
May. The youth participate in a variety of activities to foster the
spiritual, cultural, educational and social activities of the youth
of the parish. New volunteers and ideas are warmly welcome.
